Chapter 5 - The weeks pass

The following morning the children woke bright and early. The sun was streaming through the bedroom window. It was a lovely day for an adventure.
They were sad to leave the lady and her warm house but they wanted to travel further. The children knew that winter would arrive and they wanted to reach new countries and see new places before that happened.
Off they went. They found an old bicycle in the grass at the side of the road.
"Wow,"said James. "This will help us to travel quickly through Wales."
Off they went, James pedaling and Sally sitting behind him. It wasn't easy as the bike was really meant for one person, not two.
James had forgotten one very important thing. Wales is a country full of mountains and rivers. They would have to travel along the valleys to reach England.
Days and days passed and the children were weary. They found shelter each night in barns, in deserted cottages and occasionally in houses of friendly Welsh people.
The weather was getting colder and they needed to travel much more quickly.
Then they saw it - a train. The doors were open and no one was around. james didn't have any money for the fare. He had been brought up to know that it was dishonest to not pay for things but they had no choice. They sneaked onto the train - bound for London.
