Page 4 - Halloween

It was late at night the 31st of October when the ship was unloaded and the boxes were on the shore. The children were tired and hungry. They took a violin and got out of the box. James was homesick. He was thinking about his parents and his cosy room. Sally looked a bit nervous. They went along a dark and narrow street. Suddenly they saw strange young people wearing old and funny clothes. Sally said, "Oh, it's Halloween night today! Let's join them! " They found some cardboard and paper near a small shop, made masks and went from house to house knocking the doors and saiyng "Trick or treat!" People gave them sweets, fruit, cakes and other tasty things. James was playing the violin. One old woman liked his playing and invited them into her house. They told her their story and she let them stay till morning.

Page 3 - At Sea

It was dark in the box. It was also rather scary for James. In all of his life he had never done anything so risky. Sally, on the other hand, was very calm and unconcerned. James wondered whether she often had adventures like this one.
The ship pulled out of the harbour - there was a lot of clanking of chains and men shouting instructions and then they were off. Luckily the journey from Rosslaire to Pembroke dock in Wales, was quite short.
James was tired and, eventually, the humming of the engines, the rocking of the boat and the darkness in the box all worked together to send him off to sleep.

Page 2-The Adventure continues

Suddenly Sally stopped and said: "If you are not sure you can stay at home!" James was thinking for a moment and then said: "We are friends. I must be with you and help you. But we have no passports and money". Sally smiled and tried to calm James down:"I can dance and you can sing well. So we'll organize a small performance in a square or in the street and get some money".
They came up to the place where people were loading big boxes on the ship. Sally said:"Our country Ireland is not far from Great Britain. Look! This box is almost empty. There are musical instruments in it and we can take a violin with us as it is small. There is a place for us in this box".
They jumped into the box. In some minutes the boxes were loaded and the ship went to a big island called Great Britain.

Page 1 - The Adventure begins

Once upon a time, in a far away land, lived a young girl called Sally and a young boy called James.
James was a very quiet child, always afraid of everything. He was surprisingly tall for a shy boy. His eyes were a wonderful shade of blue, his hair blonde with a sprinkling of brown, and his skin was smooth and clear. He loved to wear clothes that made him as inconspicuous as possible. You might not have noticed him - even if your paths had crossed. His favourite clothes were always browns and greens. He wouldn't even wear a brightly coloured badge in case someone realised that he was there.
Sally was James' friend. He needed her. Sally was as loud as he was quiet, as colourful as he was plain and as confident as he was shy. She wore such a combination of clothes that people would stop in the street and stare. She had black hair with a pink streak. Her eyes were always hidden by huge, coloured sunglasses and her clothes - well, they are almost impossible to describe. You think of things that you wouldn't wear together and Sally would probably have tried.
Her legs were a rainbow of colours. The skirt on top would usually have sparkling pieces and coloured ribbons. Her jackets and scarves were the talk of the town.
These two friends were inseperable - so much so that when Sally decided to leave home (her dad had told her to sort out her dress sense), James had tagged along. he was very, very nervous- especially when Sally headed straight for the ferry. He didn't have money or a passport!

Prologue ( Introduction)

Welcome to our story. We really hope you enjoy it. Please don't be disappointed that it isn't complete - we are taking our time and building the most fabulous work. A story that is also spanning two continents. The story has been written by children in Bogotol in the Krasnoyarski region of Russia, and Gloucester in England.
How did we start?
Well, we were keen bloggers. We had exchanged teddy bears and the teddies kept blog diaries. Through these diaries we found out about local traditions and customs. Now we have decided to write, and illustrate, a story.
